What an important thing for
Musicians to do! To become better on
your instrument you need to practice!
Here are some tips on using good practice techniques:
1.
Practice each
day. You don’t need to practice an hour
a day! If you practice a half an hour
you will see a lot of improvement.
2.
Location,
location, location!!! The location of
your practicing is VERY important!
Practicing your instrument in front of the TV will not be the best use
of your time. You will spend more time
watching the show than you will playing your horn. Find a place that is all yours! If you have a nice, spacious, comfortable
place to practice, you will make the most of your time.
3.
30 minutes of
GOOD practice time. We are not saying
that you can’t have fun. Go ahead! If you choose to play around with your
instrument that time does not count on your practice time. You practice time needs to be focused time
where you are playing your most recent assignment. If something is difficult, don’t give
up. Try it slowly and a little at a
time. In time, you will get it.
4.
Put on a
concert! Once you have really practiced
a piece and think it sounds as good as it possibly could… play it for an
audience. Use your family as an
audience. They will LOVE it! Set up your stage and play your best! Have fun!
